Music Video: “Black Earth, WI” by Ratboys!

Ratboys released a brand new song earlier this week, an eight-minute americana epic called “Black Earth, WI.” The sprawling jam (recorded live to tape!) is yet another step towards the greatness we saw all the way back on their first EP. The accompanying video is a brilliant collage of VHS storm chaser footage mixed with some modern psychedelia. Not only is this song great, but the homies made the videos themselves!! Buy the track on bandcamp!! — Tim

Better Yet: Steve Albini on Jason Molina

When I interviewed Steve Albini in August 2019, I asked him about working with the late Jason Molina. My research was aided by Erin Osmon’s must-read biography Jason Molina: Riding with the Ghost, which provides incredible detail of the Magnolia Electric Co. sessions, along with all of Jason’s sessions with Steve at Electrical Audio. Steve, of course, has such tremendous recall and he speaks so eloquently on Jason’s genius — Tim
